On April 28, the Church of God will be celebrating Pastor Appreciation Sunday.
To help facilitate the annual recognition, the Church of God Adult Discipleship department has just released a complete set of brand-new materials to assist local congregations coordinate a high-quality, well-planned Sunday to honor their pastor and family.
The 2019 Pastor Appreciation theme is “Cherishing Our Spiritual Landmarks.” Adult/Men’s Discipleship Director, O. Wayne Brewer said that this theme is especially appropriate because “our pastors not only remind us of our past victories and celebrate our present testimonies, but they also lead us to our future possibilities. Our congregations owe a genuine debt of gratitude to our pastors and their families.”
In addition to a free downloadable complete Pastor Appreciation Day Sunday sermon, the Church of God Adult Discipleship department is also providing quality resources to enhance the Pastor Appreciation Sunday experience for the entire congregation and the pastor personally.
Resources include a themed four-color church bulletin cover that contains an eloquent responsive reading on the back. Additionally, there are four-color posters for display, pastor love gift envelopes, themed bookmarks, and prayer/blessing cards which can be mailed or placed in the offering, as a way of encouraging the pastor.
Beyond all of these items, Adult Discipleship is making available a comprehensive 162-page Pastor Appreciation Book of Ideas.
“Pastor Appreciation Sunday is April 28 and quantities are limited, so ordering sooner rather than later is advised,” Brewer stated. “Pastor Appreciation Sunday can be a joyous celebration for the pastor and the entire congregation.”
