Latin America Interdenominational Summit to be Held

CLEVELAND, TN–A multi-denominational leadership summit will be held in Cleveland, TN, on March 11-13, 2019. Hosted by the Church of God and the Church of God of Prophecy, this meeting will bring together church leaders representing numerous church and mission organizations engaged in ministry across Latin America. It is expected that some 90,000 local church congregations will be represented by their leadership at the summit.

“I am honored that the Church of God could play a small role in organizing such a gathering of Christian leaders from Latin America and that we could host the meeting, along with our friends at the Church of God of Prophecy, right here in Cleveland. God is doing amazing work all across Latin America and I believe that working together, we can see even greater things accomplished for the Kingdom of God. I am excited to welcome this outstanding group of leaders to our denominational headquarters and I look forward to what God has in store for our collective efforts,” stated Dr. Timothy M. Hill, General Overseer of the Church of God.

The summit is the results of the efforts of Dr. Angel Marcial, Field Director for Church of God World Missions in Latin America. Entitled “CONVERGENCE 2019,” representatives from the following church organizations are expected to be in attendance: Church of God, Church of God of Prophecy, Assemblies of God, Defenders of the Christian Faith Movement, Pentecostal Church International Movement, Council of Churches, Missionary Christ International Mission, Baptist Cooperative, Baptist Church, Christian and Missionary Alliance, and the Methodist Church. In addition to the denominational representatives, it is expected that other mission organizations with operations in Latin America will send delegates to the summit.

“The goal of this summit is to create a cooperative approach to reaching every person across Latin America with the Good News of Jesus Christ,” concluded Hill.
