Winter 2019 Engage Journal Released

The Winter 2019 issue of Church of God Engage has been released and is available digitally at www.cogengage.org [1].

The journal for ministers, church and lay leaders, offers a variety of articles for those working in ministry on a regular basis. Different than Church of God Evangel, Engage offers practical ministry ideas and resources, as well as items for the local church to implement. Advertisements throughout the publication are provided by the departments and ministries of the Church of God.

This issue continues the series, “Let’s Talk About It,” by General Overseer Tim Hill. This issue he gives a candid testimony of changing ministry roles. Several articles in this edition are slanted toward the senior pastor, addressing such issues as “PTSP” (Post-Traumatic Stress Pastoring), a testimony from a 99 year-old woman pastor, and a candid discussion from former Charisma magazine editor J. Lee Grady about the call to speak. The series of articles that address some of the Church of God’s core values continues in this issue with an analysis on keeping the Sabbath Day, written by seminary professor Lee Roy Martin.

There is also an intriguing testimony by Jeremy McGinnis, son of Gerald McGinnis. Jeremy charts his journey from a young man working with his father and the years leading up to his transition into the Senior Pastor role, replacing his father, who was the founding pastor.

Regular columns include Legal Notes and Financial Matters that appeal to the minister and local church. There is a recurring section which looks back at the last four months of Church of God happenings as reported on Faith News Network and a section on book reviews.

Published three times a year, Engage is emailed directly to ministers, pastors, staff and leaders in the Church of God. It is then made available to anyone simply through logging into the website www.cogengage.org. On the site, the publication may be downloaded for print, or viewed in a convenient two-page spread. Any website listed within the publication is a live link. There are also archived copies of the publication going back several years.
