Grace Orphanage Making a Difference in Uganda

Joseph Kagarama, regional superintendent of the Eastern Region of Africa for the Church of God, relates information regarding the Grace Orphanage in Uganda:

“Another category of children brought to Grace Orphanage are abandoned children of unwanted pregnancies. These are classified as social orphans.

“The home has many testimonies. A crippled, orphaned boy named John arrived some years ago. He was trained in shoe making and upon completion of his education, he became employed in a government hospital (Mulago). Now a grown man, he is married and has three children.

“Another young boy (Habarurema) came to Grace Orphanage after losing his father. The home educated him, and he learned the plumbing trade. Currently employed, he has built a house for his crippled mother who takes good care of him.

“Grace Orphanage has such a positive impact on the children, society, the government, and the church. We are so grateful to God and the donors who have made this possible. Most important is that hope has been restored in the lives of these successful children, and they in turn are a huge blessing to the Kingdom of God and the people they serve.

“Yet, Grace Orphanage is still faced with several challenges:

– A training or vocational school for those children who may not attend universities
– Since the home alone is not enough, a school needs to be constructed on larger property
– A great need is for a medical/school bay at the orphanage with medical personnel, medications, and medical equipment
– Two security personnel need to be hired, one for days and one for nights.”

To assist in helping the Grace Orphanage meet these and other needs, please contact cogwm.org and refer to Project #102-4016.
