Friday General Assembly Service Spotlights ‘Jeremiah Generation’

The concluding service of the upcoming Church of God International General Assembly will focus on the next generation of leaders, what General Overseer Tim Hill has commissioned as “the Jeremiah Generation.”

Friday evening, August 3 will be a showcase of talent and leadership, led by Hill. Backing up the evening will be a massive youth choir, made up partially of young people of all ages, including those who will have travelled to compete in a week of Junior Talent.

Also spotlighted will be Brooke Mills Simpson, an alumna of Lee University who two years ago enraptured the nation with her performances on the popular NBC talent search, “The Voice.” Simpson, a church worship leader along with her husband, made the finals of the competition, which has catapulted her career and Christian witness across the nation.

The message of the evening will be led by General Overseer Hill, who will guide the sermon, interspersed with four “Jeremiah Generation” young preachers, who will “tag-team” with one another to bring a powerful display of anointed messages.

For Ashley Ramsey, growing up as the daughter of Dr. Jonathan Ramsey, Jr., and Reverend LaVerne Ramsey, the path was made clear to her from a young age that she was called to preach. Ashley answered that call as a teenager. She holds a Bachelor in Elementary Education from Lee University. While at Lee, Ashley served as a chaplain for two years, and has worked in various other capacities within the church. She also holds a Masters of Education from the University of Hartford in Connecticut, and has completed extensive coursework through the Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut to further her knowledge and understanding in theology. Currently, Ashley serves as Ministry Leader for Rooted Young Adult Ministry at Rehoboth Church of God. She is the founder of the Young Preachers Network, a ministry that encourages and uplifts young preachers and leaders, and hosts the Giant Slayers Conference each fall. She is also Founder of Flawless Young Ladies, a mentorship and empowerment platform for girls and young adult women.

Early in his ministry Eric Petree began to pray for God to let him lead a church that looked like heaven. Today that prayer is alive as he and his wife, Kimberly, pastor CityGate Church, a multi-cultural and multi-generational church where diversity and unity are core values. In his past 10 years of leadership, CityGate has grown from a congregation of 70 to its current attendance of 2,000 on a weekly basis with 1,000 new converts this year alone. With an authentic love for people and a passion to unite the power of Pentecost with the excellence and creativity of God, Eric’s vision of impactful community outreach has had a national reach. Eric regularly partners with Pastor Joel Osteen and the Champions Network, Pastors Tommy and Matthew Barnett and The Dream Center, and Pastor Rod Parsley and the City Harvest Network.

At age 15, Daniel Pinero said yes to the call- “I have chosen you, I have selected you from the womb of your mother’s belly. I have called you.”
Currently Daniel and his wife Rev. Jeimy Pinero are the lead pastors at New Dimension Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served as the Youth and Discipleship director since 2009, accompanied by work with the Regional Men’s Discipleship Department in the Northeast Hispanic Region. He was ordained in 2015 as the youngest ordained bishop in the Northeast Hispanic Region of the Church of God. Daniel has been touching lives, hearts and souls through the passion that God has given him to serve, preach, teach, structure and launch leaders. Daniel graduated from State University of New York College at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in arts with a concentration in communications.

Evangelist Adrian Franklin was called into the ministry at the age of nine. He and his wife Brooke of nearly three years reside in Gastonia, N.C., along with their miracle son, Corbin. Adrian is a third generation graduate of Lee University, holding a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministries. He is also a third generation Church of God minister having received his ordained bishop license this year. Adrian is currently serving as the Christian Education Director at the South Gastonia Church of God. The prayer of Adrian’s ministry is to see souls saved, sanctified, filled with the Spirit, healed and delivered; but most of all, that each one will… “Hold on to what you’ve got! We must hold on to the Full Gospel and do whatever it takes to see that Pentecost will not end with our generation; but, that it will continue until Christ returns for His church.”
