Church of God Prayer Ministries is offering two pre-assembly sessions for those interested in becoming prayer facilitators, learning more about prayer programs in the local church or other aspects of an active prayer ministry.
On Monday, July 30, a day before the Church of God General Assembly officially begins, the two sessions will be held in back-to-back morning and afternoon sessions in Room 204 of the Orange County Convention Center, the location of prayer activities throughout the week.
The Praying Church Movement will be offered from 9:00 am to noon. Here, participants will learn how to bring prayer to the heart of all they do in their local church congregation. The goal of The Praying Church Movement is to identify pastors and congregations that want to raise the standard of prayer and steward their prayer effort more effectively.
“We need a healthier theology of prayer and creative prayer approaches and practices,” stated Church of God International Prayer Coordinator Doug Small and founder of Project Pray.
According to Small, Assistant General Overseer Dr. J. David Stephens will begin the training experience. A collage of ideas and resources will be presented by Small, and a presentation of ideas will be laced into moments of prayer. Attendees will receive complimentary prayer resources with their donation for the training.
From 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm, the School of Prayer Associate Presenter Certification Training will take place in the same location. State Prayer Leaders and team members, local church prayer leaders are invited to attend this workshop that introduces participants to the possibility of becoming a certified School of Prayer Associate Presenter in their state or region. Doug Small will conduct the training focused on the resources in the School, ‘Prayer – the Heart of it All.’
Once certified, presenters will utilize the resource kits produced by Project Pray, complete with PowerPoint, videos, books and workbooks, and leader’s guides – and offer seminars in local congregations. A modest registration fee will be collected onsite for the materials and the training.
