Agenda for General Assembly Released

June 19, 2018–The all-important agenda for the upcoming 77th International General Assembly of the Church of God has been released by General Overseer Dr. Tim Hill and the International Executive Committee.

Officially named the General Council FINISH Commitment Agenda, the document will contain some 30 items to address during the General Council business sessions, as well as additional motions and resolutions that come from the floor. “We are also expecting anointed worship and preaching, so it looks to be a busy, but hopefully productive, week of fellowship, prayer, worship, and business,” Hill said.

To prepare for the business sessions, Hill sent an email copy of the agenda to all ordained bishops. In addition, the “Further Study” report on the meaning and usage of the term “Bishop” was also made available in an attachment.

“With only the Council of Eighteen elections to be held, I am anticipating plenty of time for the International General Council to debate all the issues to come before the body,” Hill commented in the message. In addressing the ministers, Hill said, “Although our formal time of prayer for the General Assembly has come to an end, I am hopeful that you are continuing to pray that God will guide and direct every decision made by the General Council and the General Assembly. I specifically ask that you prayerfully consider each item on the FINISH Commitment Agenda. We will also open each morning session (Wednesday through Friday) with prayer, beginning at 8:00 am.”

The FINISH Commitment Agenda was prepared by a group called the General Council Agenda Committee (GCAC) and presented to the International Executive Council at their most recent meeting in late April where they debated and processed the GCAC’s work. The final document is now presented to the General Council where they will do the same starting on the morning of July 31, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
