‘Alma’s Closet’ Returns to the General Assembly

A much-loved benevolent ministry to missionaries originated by Church of God World Missions, will be returning to the International General Assembly this summer.

There is still time to donate to Alma’s Closet, a ministry founded to assist missionaries with dresses and outfits for the biennial meeting set for July 30 – August 3, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Several years ago, Alma Kelley, wife of former World Missions field representative B.L. Kelley (both deceased), felt a burden for the wives of missionaries and nationals who attended the General Assembly, but lacked attire suitable for the event. She initiated Alma’s Closet, asking churches and individuals to provide new dresses, shoes, and accessories.

“No one could have imagined the impact of the endeavor, as clothes arrive from everywhere,” stated World Missions Director David Griffis. “The recipients not only have beautiful clothing, but their beautiful smiles match.”

This year the Redemption Point Church of God will be coordinating Alma’s Closet, including distribution at the General Assembly. Those individuals and /or churches wishing to participate may contact Redemption Point by emailing [email protected] or calling 423-894-7926. Physical donations can be shipped to Redemtion Point Church of God, 3831 Ooltewah-Ringgold Rd., Ooltewah, TN 37363. New shoes and accessories, as well as new clothes with tags will be accepted. To send monetary donations, please mail to Alma’s Closet Benevolent Ministry, Project #790-1019, c/o Church of God World Missions, P.O. Box 8016, Cleveland TN 37320-8016.

The deadline for donating to Alma’s Closet for the 2018 General Assembly is July 15, 2018.
