After the sudden loss of her childhood sweetheart, Jan Teel-Nealis was left to pick up the shattered pieces as a widow with three sons and a daughter. The Charlotte businesswoman, public speaker, and now author has written a new book aimed to help bring healing to those who have lost a loved one. “Grieving by the Numbers: Glimpses of Glory” will be released this month.
“Grieving is not something you get over, it is something you get through,” said Teel-Nealis.
Following her husband’s death, she began journaling through a weekly post on social media. She discovered the Biblical relevance of each week’s number and shared with her followers how these revelations guided her in the emptiness left after losing her childhood sweetheart and best friend. “I found that God’s Word is rich in symbolism and revelation which brought me comfort and hope,” said Teel-Nealis.
After the first few entries, she received numerous requests from others who were also suffering from the loss of a loved one to share her journey. She has since amassed an impressive following on social media.
“Grieving by the Numbers” is an intimate journey that traverses those first critical hours following the pain of loss. The aftermath of that event segues into the exploration of a second act. A supernatural trip to Ireland led Teel-Nealis to open her mind up to imagine a new beginning. “It wasn’t what I had planned, nor even what I had imagined, but God had a Divine outcome that I am still watching unfold as He has turned my mourning into laughter.”
