A slate of musical guests and the assembling of a reunion choir will highlight the worship services of the upcoming 77th International General Assembly for the Church of God (GA18), set for July 30 – August 3, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
While the schedule is subject to change and there will be additional special music and other aspects of the worship services, the following soloists and groups have so far been confirmed for the Church of God’s biggest event held every two years.
Tuesday, July 31 is the opening night of GA18 and is being billed as family night. The well-known gospel artists Crabb Family have been scheduled as the highlight musical event. The opening group will be the popular Voices of Lee from Lee University. Keynote speaker is Dr. Tony Evans.
On Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., in response to the successful Faith, Fire, Freedom celebrations last fall, a Women’s Ministries celebration service will take place in the Valencia Ballroom. Preceding a message by Dr. Joyce Rodgers, two soloists will highlight the music, including Leslie Ruiz, a gifted singer and worshipper who ministers to both Spanish and English speaking audiences. Angela Primm is one of the premier voices of today whose musical history spans genres, continents, and audiences.
The Wednesday night worship service will feature an encore of the Crabb Family, and Angela Primm for those unable to attend the women’s service. In addition, a reunion choir is planned for all former members of music groups from Lee University. The choir performance will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Lee’s founding on January 1, 1918. Speaking that evening will be Juan A. Garcia.
The Thursday evening service, with a traditional emphasis on World Missions, will feature a message from Pastor Jentezen Franklin. Special music on this night has yet to be announced.
The Friday night concluding service will be led by General Overseer Tim Hill who plans a focus on the Jeremiah Generation. As part of the emphasis, a mass youth choir will perform. Special musical guest that evening will be Brooke Simpson, a Lee University alumna, who last year placed third on the top-rated talent search competition, The Voice on NBC. She is a singer-songwriter who serves as a praise and worship leader.
