General Assembly Evening Speakers Announced

The Church of God International Executive Committee has released the slate of speakers for the four evening worship services during the 77th International General Assembly (GA18). The biennial event will take place July 30 – August 3, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Founder and president of The Urban Alternative, Dr. Tony Evans, will be featured on the opening night of GA18, Tuesday, July 31. The service is being billed as a family experience and will include special music by the Crabb Family. Evans is founder and senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, a former chaplain for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, and current chaplain of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. His Christian radio broadcast, The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans, can be heard on nearly 1,200 radio outlets across the nation daily. Evans’ sermons are also streamed and downloaded over 10,000,000 times annually.

Wednesday, August 1, Bishop Juan A. Garcia will deliver the keynote evening message. Garcia has served the Church of God as a national evangelist, senior pastor, Youth and Christian Education director and administrative bishop for the New England Hispanic and Northeast Hispanic regions. Chairman of the Hispanic Ministries Board for the Church of God, Rev. Garcia has also served on numerous community and interdenominational boards and committees. The bulk of his ministry has been dedicated to prepare, equip, disciple, and mentor a generation for Kingdom building.

Jentezen Franklin is slated to bring the Word to GA18 delegates on Thursday evening, August 2. He is an ordained bishop with the Church of God and serves as Senior Pastor of Free Chapel, a multi-campus church based in Gainesville, Ga. Each week his television program, Kingdom Connection, is broadcast on major networks all over the world. A New York Times best-selling author, Franklin has written eight books, including Fasting and Right People-Right Place-Right Plan.

Timothy M. Hill, General Overseer of the Church of God, will deliver the closing keynote sermon on Friday night, August 3. Dr. Hill’s address will include what he referred to as, “the voices of both the Heritage and Jeremiah Generations.” Leading the ministries of approximately 7.4 million members and nearly 39,000 churches in 184 countries and territories worldwide, Dr. Hill previously served as a member of the Executive Committee (secretary general and first assistant) and has been an administrative bishop in Ohio and Oklahoma. He is the author of nine books and more than 150 gospel songs. At the core of Dr. Hill’s ministry is his passion for revival and finishing the Great Commission.

Previously it was announced that Joyce Rodgers, founder and CEO of Primary Purpose Ministries, Inc., will keynote a special women’s celebration service, scheduled for Wednesday morning, August 1 at 9:30. She will be joined by musical guess Angela Primm and Leslie Ruiz.
