Call for Nominations: Shepherd’s Cup

To recognize children’s workers who have served long term in children’s ministry in the Church of God, a Shepherd’s Cup award is presented annually. The next awards will be presented at the 24th annual FOCUS Kidmin Conference, convening in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 2-4, 2018.

“Children’s ministry in the Church of God is stronger than ever!” stated Children’s Ministries Coordinator, Tony Lane. “From Nickelodeon style of environments to varying models of Sunday school, churches understand the necessity of reaching and teaching children the fundamentals of our Pentecostal faith.”

The Shepherd’s Cup is awarded annually to individuals who have been involved in ministry to children for at least 10 years and have made this area of ministry a priority and lifetime commitment and whose ministry has set high standards for others to follow. Through the years, the award has been presented to an elite group of deserving children’s ministry leaders and children’s ministry advocates in the Church of God.

Criteria for the award includes that the nominee must be presently ministering to children within the Church of God and this application must be endorsed by his/her Senior Pastor. The nomination may also be made or endorsed by a State Youth and Discipleship Director. The nominee should be planning to attend the FOCUS, where the award will be presented. The nomination form can be requested from any State Youth and Discipleship Director or by calling 423.478.7229. It is also available on the www.mykidfest.com website. Nominations must be received in the Youth and Discipleship Department by January 30, 2018.

According to Lane, Church of God Youth and Discipleship has some exciting plans for the coming months to assist the local church in their children’s ministry.
