The School of Business is part of the recent development of the South Campus Quad, and opened for classes after Lee’s fall break earlier this month. The Quad also includes a Communication Arts Building, Nursing Building, Lacrosse Field, and the Forum, which is in the last phase of its construction.

“Faculty, staff, and students of the School of Business are delighted to be in our new facilities,” said Dr. Dewayne Thompson, dean of the School of Business. “Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but the technology compliments our pedagogy and creates an outstanding learning environment. Additionally, our (faculty) offices provide wonderful space to meet with current students, as well as prospective students.”

At the Open House, guests will have the opportunity to explore the building and enjoy the various common spaces. The building has office space for up to 18 faculty and features a student commons area on the second floor. It has a total seating capacity of 408 and includes state-of-the-art computer and technology labs. There are collaborative classrooms and enhanced classrooms in addition to conference rooms and a tiered lecture style classroom.

The two-story building occupies the education wing of the former First Baptist Church of Cleveland. In addition, a connecting area was added to the north side of the building to connect Pangle Hall (the former church sanctuary) and the School of Business. A grand new entrance on the northern side was constructed, which allows the building to have view overlooking the South Campus Quad.

“I so enjoyed watching our students come in that first day, wide-eyed and awe-struck by our new building,” Thompson said.
