MIP Commissioning Celebration Occurs This Weekend

Already, almost 1,500 people have registered for the 2018 Ministerial Internship Program (MIP) Commissioning Celebration that will be at the North Cleveland Church of God this coming Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20.

According to the Church of God Division of Education officials, delegates and their families are coming from as far away as Korea, Germany, the Bahamas, and Western Canada.

Dr. Michael Baker, chancellor of education and president of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, will speak on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., and Dr. Tim Hill, general overseer for the Church of God, will speak on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m., as well as lead in a commissioning prayer for the MIP candidates. Joining Hill in the prayer will be more than 30 administrative bishops and International Office leaders, as well as the many state ministerial training leaders and supervising pastors who will attend.

On Friday morning, the administrative bishops, International Office leaders, and state ministerial training leaders will meet at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary for the annual MIP Leadership Seminar. In the seminar, Dr. David Ramírez, assistant general overseer, will speak about global training; Baker will present the Global Education Initiative, as well as lead a panel discussion on leadership development with Pastor Hugh Bair, Mitch Corder, administrative bishop for Tennessee, Pastor Luis Rodriquez, and Loretta Smith, chair of a State Board of Ministerial Development. Dr. Fred Garmon will discuss how to handle conflict in the ministry, Dr. David Cooper will share how MIP candidates can transition from ministerial training to practicing ministry, and Dr. Donald Bennett with the Division of Education will conclude the seminar with a discussion about the future of the MIP.
