Gospel Meetings in India

A gospel outreach program was held in the Thaiyur pastorate from April 28-20, 2008. Over 250 people attended the meeting on the first two days, and around 300 people attended on the last day.

Following these meetings, 23 people were baptized after the Sunday worship service.

Mysore Outdoor Gospel Meeting

The second meeting was held at Mysore, the former capital of Karnataka state. The official language of this state is Kannada. Pastor Ebi was moved by the Holy Spirit to begin new outreach centers in Karnataka state where the Full Gospel Church in India is headquartered. Though Karnataka is home to many world outreach ministries, only 26,000 out of 34,000 villages have heard the gospel of our Lord at least once.

This was a sincere attempt to reach out with the gospel to the people of Mysore. On the first two days, around 250 people attended the meetings. On the third day, around 400 people had gathered. The native Kannadigas comprise a majority of the population in Mysore. There are not many Kannada ministries to share the gospel with these people. Preaching is very restricted and opposed in Karnataka, and, therefore, people hesitate to take the gospel into its districts.

Pastor Ebi shared about sin and forgiveness on the first day, healing on the second day and God’s Judgment on the final day. On the last evening over 30 people committed their lives to Christ. A follow-up ministry has already been launched.

The local pastors in Mysore who gathered for a discussion decided to conduct another large-scale, open-air gospel meeting in the near future. Many of the local pastors have been encouraged during the meetings, as they were challenged to reach their city before the end of days. Please pray that God will give us grace to establish His ministry in this district.

Chittoor Church Building Under Threat

The Chittoor Branch Church was the second outreach center and was established in the year 1973. Pastor P.V. D. Panjanathan has been in charge of this ministry center that has reached more than 2,500 with the gospel. A permanent church building was dedicated in 1996 on a property that was leased from the Chittoor association with legal documentation. A local politician has now come up against the church and is demanding we vacate the church and the parsonage within six months. Kindly pray that God’s will be accomplished in this ministry and for the politician to be saved for the glory of God.

Children’s Home

All the children who have gone home to be with their parents and guardians for vacation will be returning to our Children’s Home in the first week of June. Except for a few students, most of them did well on their examinations and have been promoted to higher grades. New admissions to the Children’s Home are in progress. Please continue to pray that we will have God’s favor during admissions for the new academic year.

Rev. Ebenezer A. George, Senior Pastor, Full Gospel Church India
