Latino Summit: New Models of Theological Education

Cleveland, TN–The 3rd annual Latino Summit is scheduled for October 5-6, 2015 at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary Center for Latino Studies.

According to Wilfredo Estrada-Adorno, D. Min., director of the Center for Latino Studies and Professor of Practical Theology & Latino Studies at the seminary, the event we will concentrate on studying the new models of theological education for ministry for Latinos for the next ten years from the context of typical white Anglo-Saxon seminaries.

“The idea is to develop a solid strategy to help these seminaries in USA meet the growing theological and ministerial needs of Latino in USA,” Estrada-Adorno said. “This includes (1) programs related to Latino ministry, and (2) hiring of Latino faculty for conducting these programs. This way, seminaries in the USA will also be able to raise their enrollment and keep serving the needs of ministers of the growing churches in the USA.”

The expected audience for the event is 200 Latino theological education leaders from across the United States, seminary professors, key leaders of seminary staff and administration and denominational leaders interested in the topic.

Guest speakers and lecturers for the summit include Dr. Justo L. González, a noted historian, theologian and author; Dr. Elizabeth Conde-Frazier, Dean of Esperanza College in Philadelphia, Pa.; and Dr. David S. Han, Vice President for Academics at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary.
