Trinity Chapel Church of God, located in Powder Springs, Georgia, dedicated its new sanctuary, a 4,000-seat auditorium, on Sunday, September 30. The auditorium is the largest of its kind in Cobb County.

The celebration Sunday took the form of three services, a parade of special guests, including contractors who worked on the project, church, civic and government leaders. Senior Pastor Jim Bolin spoke in the two morning services, while an evening service at 7:00 P.M. featured Bishop Eddie Long, Senior Pastor at Newbirth in Lithonia, Georgia, a church with over 25,000 members. Long is listed in “Church Report” as one of the most influential pastors in the U.S.

“God has used some wonderful people throughout this process,” Bolin stated as he introduced nearly two dozen representatives from various electrical, plumbing and construction companies who were led by Trinity Chapel’s Administrative Pastor James Phillips. He also introduced local civic leaders including Powder Springs Mayor Pat Vaughan.

Church of God North Georgia Administrative Bishop Dr. Donald Walker led the formal litany of dedication.

“Today is a day of dedication; a gift from God,” Walker said. “I commend everyone who put their shoulder to the wheel to see this project to its fruition.” Trinity Chapel began on September 11, 1983 in a small storefront building on Austell Road in Austell, Georgia with a message of love, acceptance, and forgiveness, a theme which is still in use today. Twenty-four years later, Trinity Chapel has grown into a congregation of over 12,000 members in West Cobb County and has become one of the most culturally diverse churches in Metro Atlanta, crossing racial and economic boundaries. The church had become overcrowded in their previous 2,000 seat sanctuary, even with two Sunday services. Built with expansion in mind several years ago, the project doubled the sanctuary size, as well as new offices, nursery, bookstore and an expanded lobby and parking.

“We have not arrived yet,” Bishop Bolin stated. “We are still going after the heart of God. God is still speaking to His church and Trinity’s greatest days are yet ahead!”
