Two fortunate attendees at this summer’s Church of God World Missions Local Missions Representative (LMR) conference will receive a free vacation and a free missions trip, thanks to generous donors. A drawing of registrants’ names will determine one person who gets a free family week in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and another who gets to visit the missions field.
“These trip gifts are one of the ways we say ‘Thank you’ to the men and women who make the trip to Cleveland, Tennessee, for the Friday-night-and-Saturday meeting to learn more about how to share the missions vision with their local congregations,” said Judy Pyeatt, LMR consultant with Church of God World Missions.
The LMR gathering, conducted each two years, drew nearly 1,000 participants in 2011. They spend Friday night in an inspiring missions worship service and Saturday until 4 p.m. meeting missionaries, visiting booths, taking part in workshops, and sharing in stirring testimony services.
The 2013 event will take place July 26–27 at the North Cleveland Church of God. It is open to any Local Missions Representative who has been appointed by his or her pastor, members of local church and state/regional missions committees, pastors and their spouses, and others who want to know about global missionary outreach.
Those who wish to attend may register on the Church of God World Missions website, www.cogwm.org [1]. They may alternatively email Ms. Pyeatt at jpyeatt@cogwm.org or call her at 1-800-345-7492. The conference provides free lunch and breaks for participants, so the pre-registration is important to planners. There is no cost to register or attend.
Pastors and spouses will be invited to a complimentary luncheon hosted by Tim Hill, director of World Missions, and John Childers, assistant director, at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, across the street from the church.
Presenters at the conference include Hill; Dwight Allen, pastor of the Cooper City, Florida, Church, noted for its mission involvement; Derrick Jerrell, pastor in Alexandria, Louisiana; and Tommy Smith, missionary to Indonesia; as well as various LMRs.
Those who register will be provided a list of hotels, with special rates for the meeting, where attendees may arrange their own lodging reservations. Onsite registration begins at 10 a.m. Friday at the church and continues until 6 p.m. Missionaries will be at their booths on Friday, and a reception for them and the conference attendees is set for Friday afternoon.
