Church of God Women’s Conference Conducted in Caribbean

Women from around the Caribbean recently attended the first-ever regional women’s conference held at the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

According to reports from the conference, delegates from as far as Suriname to the United States united under the theme “Celebrating Life in Christ.”

“Excitement, anticipation, and a spirit of expectancy hovered, as time drew near for the start of a power-packed, anointed time with the uncompromised Word of God,” said Patricia Charles, the Caribbean Women’s director. Women began arriving on Sunday evening and continued arriving until Thursday. New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre served as the local host church, and registered over 250 delegates.

Every day individuals took advantage of the opportunity to attend the conference sessions. Registration began on Wednesday morning. Daily devotions were held, led by delegates from various Caribbean islands. The teaching aspect began with Dian Persaud of Guyana, followed by Sis. Fletcher (Grenada), Yvonne Blair (Jamaica & Cayman), Linda Lee Hepburn (St. Kitts), Dr. Shanda Duncan (Bermuda), and Veronica Eversely (Barbados). A powerful ministry of prayer preceded the three nights of praise and worship.

Thursday evening was dedicated to the Hispanic community with praise, worship, and the Word spoken in its national language. Joycelyn Ricketts of Virgin Gorda was to bring the Word on Wednesday, but a shifting of the Holy Spirit led her to share her personal testimony, which turned the tide on the whole atmosphere. Evangelist Eva Palmer of the Dominican Republic preached on Thursday, while Lady Patricia Charles, the Caribbean Women’s director, ministered on Friday.

Declaring that a change has to come to the Caribbean, women lined the aisle to be anointed and prayed over. Women of all walks of life were, “encouraged, empowered, reminded, and admonished that they must rise and take their place as strong daughters of the Most High God…Women were urged to shine throughout the Caribbean and beyond as the diamonds they are, letting the world know they are here to take back their rightful possessions and places in the Kingdom of God.”

Church of God World Mission’s Director Dr. Tim Hill preached on Sunday morning. Every person who attended the Caribbean Women’s Conference 2013 left renewed and strengthened, and realized that no one should ever underestimate the power of a godly woman.
