International Offices Staff to Read Bible Through in Seven Days

Cleveland, TN–The International Offices of the Church of God will be joining with congregations around the globe as they participate in a complete read-through of the Bible during the first week of 2013.

Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams announced the “Bible Reading Stations” event as a way to help draw attention to the importance of an initiative to read the Bible through in 2013. Williams previously announced the READ Initiative for individuals to sign up to read the Bible through in one year. Already more than 100,000 have accepted the challenge by signing the pledge on the Church of God website.

Beginning Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 6:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), Mark Williams will take the first 30-minute shift, followed by his wife, Sandra Kay, who will be followed by their two sons. The seven-day event will take place in the studios of the Leadership and Communications Conference Center, which will be transformed into a chapel for the public reading of Scripture.

“Verse by verse, chapter by chapter, the Bible will be read aloud, in its entirety,” General Overseer Williams stated in a memo to the International Offices family inviting them to join in the event. “The air will be saturated with the Word of God starting at 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. on January 1 through January 7 in preparing the Church for an authentic Spiritual Awakening.” Participants may sign up for 30 minutes, one hour or longer and may sign up for multiple days during the period.
