The Church of God continues to send teams of missionaries and aid workers as the long-term recovery for the country of Haiti continues. The following is a recent report from construction missionaries Jim and Gina Hudson.
HAITI – In April, the James Douglas Team from the Oklahoma Church of God arrived, and with their help we painted the interior of the Dufailly Orphanage. Because of the team’s faithful monthly support, we purchased a new generator that will not only light up the orphanage, but the church, as well.
Another team from the Heritage Fellowship Church of God came and a new Graco sprayer was purchased allowing us to paint the exterior of the Dufailly Orphanage and the security wall. An exterior building and the exterior/interior security wall at the Mariani Widows Home/Medical Clinic was also painted.
A team lead by Terry Stewart from the Mathieu Church of God in Spotsylvania, Virginia, helped us construct metal trusses, along with the wood perlins, to prepare for the metal roofing material for the church. The Mathieu Church also raised $30,000 to rebuild a church in the Leogane District that was destroyed during the earthquake.
Pastor Lane Lavender and his team from the Union Road Church of God arrived in June and built 12 church pews. They also installed metal louver windows in the GMC panel truck. We now have two trucks available to haul materials and teams. Pastor Lane’s team also provided gift bags for the local churches, and special hygiene kits for the medical students. The team went to the Dufailly Orphanage and treated 504 patients, including some adults.
We have tried to get our truck papers back for the last few months so we could change the tags/title from the Dominican Republic to Haiti. The truck was impounded during a team’s visit, but we had another truck that was quickly repaired for their transportation to and from the job site. Finally, we received the truck papers.
