An informational web presence dedicated to all aspects of the upcoming Church of God International General Assembly was activated on January 4 at 4:00 p.m. EST. The link is located on the home pages of both the Church of God and Faith News Network Web sites. The Web link launch coincides with the January 2008 opening of housing and delegate registration for the August 4-9, 2008 event.
“Early registration for the General Assembly has long been a matter of routine for many delegates,” stated Scot Carter, director of Church of God Communications and chairman of the General Assembly Cabinet. “We appreciate the diligence of so many and hope the Web presence on the Church of God Web site answers a lot of questions.”
The General Assembly Web link is located at www.churchofgod.org or www.faithnews.org and offers information about the city of San Antonio – this year’s Assembly location – including links to attractions and maps of downtown San Antonio. There is a section on the history of the General Assembly which dates back 102 years. There will also be information to come on the agenda, schedule, Teen Talent and news items.
The opportunity for online registration for the event is one of the most important aspects of the Web link. Ministerial registration is essential for credentialed ministers participating in the business sessions, while delegate registration for laypersons is required for admission to most events at the General Assembly. For those who prefer to print a registration form may do so and either mail or fax it to Church of God Communications.
Hotel accommodations for the General Assembly with special rates for Assembly delegates will be administered through the Church of God via the San Antonio Housing Bureau.
“We are very pleased with our association with San Antonio as it pertains to General Assembly housing,” stated Kevin Brooks, a member of the General Assembly Cabinet whose portfolio includes housing. “They have designed a special link just for the Church of God. We encourage every delegate who needs accommodations to check out how easy it is to book your hotel online.”
The General Assembly Web link will be a dynamically-changing site from now until the General Assembly and will be updated as warranted with schedules, news articles, agendas, previous notice items and other pertinent information. During the week of the Assembly there will be daily news updates and video downloads of worship services as well as live video streaming of worship services. The site will remain active for several months following the Assembly where appointment and elections results will be posted and other items will be available.
