Lee University Continues Record Enrollment

Lee University has announced a spring student enrollment of 4,028 students, breaking another record for the amount of students enrolled at the Cleveland, Tennessee school.

The figure compares to 4,008 set last year at this time. Spring and fall numbers are compared separately, with the fall numbers being higher. Spring numbers do not include students who have graduated the previous semester or who have finished coursework. On December 17, 2011, over 200 students received diplomas from Lee. Last fall, Lee had a fall enrollment of 4,411 students, the most in the 94 year history of the Church of God school.

Since 1987, a new Lee University student enrollment record has been set every semester. In spring of 1984, Lee’s enrollment dropped below 1,000, but has been climbing ever since. Before this era of 25 years of consecutive records began with over 1,500 students, the previous record of 1,341 was set in 1979. President of Lee College at the time was Dr. Charles W. Conn.

Last summer Lee University honored current Lee president Dr. Paul Conn on 25 years of leadership. Conn was appointed president on August 1, 1986 following the election of previous president, Dr. Lamar Vest to the Church of God Executive Committee.
