International Youth and Discipleship, along with Pathway Press, announces the 2011 winner of the annual Teacher of the Year award.
Gina Larrison, a member and teacher at the Sanctuary of Praise Church of God in Garrettsville, Ohio, has served in the teaching ministry for over 30 years. Her most recent class, an adult class, she has taught for the past three years. From her class, six people now have accepted the call to teach and are serving in teaching positions, while she continues to mentor them. Understanding the necessity and priority of prayer she arrives one hour prior to Sunday school and prays over the class, not only her class, but all ministries. She also looks for opportunities for ministry outside of her own church. Her primary focus is on new converts and discipleship. Since accepting her class, she has seen over 600% growth.
Her pastor, Reverend Kevin Crouch, states, “Gina is truly a godly woman, full of wisdom and love. She fulfills the role of a teacher extremely well, and is very deserving. She is a good example to all and we are glad to have her as a part of our ministry team.”
