Names and places have been changed due to the extreme need for security.
I have returned from the exciting work of the Lord. He opened many doors, allowing us to impact thousands of people.
During January 2008, my wife and I were privileged to teach on marriage and the family and to preach the authoritative Word of God in sunny and warm Mexico. The people received the Word with curiosity of mind and gladness of heart from this “el Chino Latino” (as they affectionately call me when I preach in Spanish).
Upon returning from Mexico, I went back to China and Mongolia. While there, many came to the Lord through the convicting Word and power of the Spirit. Among them were two special friends, whom I had not seen for 23 years. They eagerly received Jesus as Lord and Savior during one of the house church services. Immediately, they were filled with joy and peace and started sharing with their families and friends, who now want to follow Jesus also. I met several times with these hungry members of the family to begin personal discipleship. They are already giving generous amount of money to our church and Bible schools for the advancement of the Kingdom.
Persecuted for the Faith
After ministering in an underground Bible school, we heard testimonies from a few key leaders about people who were in prison for their faith and ministries. Brother “Revival” told us that in his hometown alone, around 270 Christian leaders were thrown into prison right before Christmas. About 200 were released only after heavy fines and the confiscation of their money (over $50,000 total) and other properties. Seventy still remain in detention in the cold and snowy weather with little food and clothing and with much torture (including pulling out all of the bodily hair, a brother told me!). Forty-five of our dear brothers and sisters have been sentenced to 2-3 years of hard labor at a concentration camp for being “leaders of the evil cult: Shie Jiao Tou Zhi.” Yet, they keep on praying to and praising God with perseverance, even preaching in prison like Paul and Silas in Acts 16:22-31. No wonder many call the house church movements in China “Acts in Action” or Acts 29!
Please Pray
Please remember those in prison in this region and many other regions in China. Remember those who are persecuted and mistreated for their faith as if you yourselves were suffering (Hebrews 13:3).
Salvation in Mongolia
Mongolia is an impoverished former communist nation where high unemployment, alcoholism and spousal abuse are rampant. During our week there, we saw many receive salvation and dozens healed.
Pray for our little Bible school with 16 young Mongolians—that they will be faithful to the Lord and their ministries will be fruitful in spite of the hardships they face.
