Centre for Pentecostal Theology Launched

The Centre for Pentecostal Theology, an entity of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, is a residential library dedicated to facilitating the conception, birth, and maturation of constructive Pentecostal Theology across the theological disciplines.

Under the leadership of Dr. Christopher Thomas and Dr. Lee Roy Martin, a function of CPT is to locate scholarly Pentecostal authors/materials and facilitate publishing these resources through CPT Press. CPT Press announces the release of its most recent publication, The Spirit of God in the Old Testament, by Lloyd Neve. Neve’s groundbreaking work was the first monograph on the Spirit of God in the Old Testament to appear in English. After demonstrating that the Hebrew term ruach carries three basic meanings (wind, the human spirit, God’s Spirit), Neve devotes his study to the Spirit of God texts.
He divides these texts into four chronological periods, and in scholarly yet readable fashion he investigates the concept of the Spirit in each respective period. In the oldest texts, the Spirit’s work authenticates the ministries of the elders of Num. 11, the judges, Saul, and David. In later periods, the Spirit can denote God’s wrath, God’s presence, and God’s creative power. Furthermore, the Spirit is often projected onto the future messianic ruler.

Neve’s work serves as a valuable resource for everyone who is interested in the Spirit of God in the Old Testament. The book is available for purchase for $13.95 at www.amazon.com and on the CPT Press website (www.cptpress.com). The work is also available in digital format for the Kindle Reader and for the iPad/iPod/iPhone.
