CLEVELAND, Tenn.-America celebrated its 235th birthday this summer yet America’s future lies in the balance at a critical point in history. The U.S. has grown to be the world’s superpower yet this week Americans were reminded that its foundation has grown weak and its reputation is in question worldwide. The stark reality is that America remains in dire physical and spiritual crises.
These are critical times, and in the opinion of many American citizens, it is time for America to return to her spiritual roots. CRY OUT AMERICA, in conjunction with the Awakening America Alliance, is mobilizing Christian believers across the nation, and throughout every denomination, in prayer on 9/11, on this 10-year anniversary, to repent and reclaim the heart of America for God.
Billy Wilson, Executive Director of the Awakening America Alliance and The Center For Spiritual Renewal, shared the Cry Out America 9/11/11 vision with the Assemblies of God General Council in Phoenix, Ariz. last week at which time 550 churches registered to participate on 9/11–with additional churches signing up this week. Hundreds of other congregations from a broad spectrum of denominations have also registered (www.awakeningamerica.us) to participate. American pastors see the deep spiritual need before us and are eager to unite in prayer for a new Christ awakening.
Churches will be united in prayer in their Sunday morning services on 9/11/11 and then on Sunday afternoon they will join in united public prayer gatherings in each county. Records already indicate over 850 gatherings will take place with the number growing daily. Already confirmed are at least one county gathering in every state, including U.S. territories Puerto Rico and the U. S. Virgin Islands, and Cry Out America gatherings in all 38 counties with population over one million.
Dr. Peggy Scarborough, South Carolina COA State Coordinator, said, “Every county in South Carolina has committed to unite in prayer on 9/11, believing that united prayer will make a difference in our cities, our counties, our state and our nation. Last year miracles took place all over South Carolina as we prayed together. I get more excited every day as this prayer movement is getting stronger–even governors are now calling for days of prayer. A move of God is coming to America.”
Cry Out America witnessed a two-fold increase in registration just this past week–a week that proved that our hope is not found in the government, is it found in finances. Americans are recognizing the need for prayer, the need for spiritual renewal and awakening and they are uniting.
In what appears to be a very trying time for the Church and the nation, the Awakening America Alliance believes that America could be on the verge of a sweeping move of God’s Spirit that will touch every state, every county and every heart.
“If you believe that extraordinary prayer is needed to awaken our nation and you are willing to get involved to make this historic event happen, then I encourage you to visit us on our website by going to www.awakeningamerica.us/cryoutamerica, register you local church involved, find your county and commit to pray today,” said Billy Wilson.
