Team Conducts Outreach in Philippines

Church of God Youth and Discipleship Children’s Ministries Coordinator Tony Lane completed the 8th annual missions trip to the Philippines. The 16-member team participated in several ministry opportunities, including a tour of the Gentle Hands orphanage in Manila.

The team conducted a two-day conference at the Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries (ASCM), dealing with all types of local church ministries. Along with the students, leaders from other churches in the region also attended. Eleven laptops were donated, and three Kindle Fire tablets were placed in the library as e-readers. Four video projectors were given to various ministries/churches. Books, puppets, curriculum, and other resources were distributed to registrants.

A seminar was provided for the children’s Sunday school teachers of the Dasmariñas Church of God in Cavite, Philippines, a church that averages of 13,000 weekly in attendance. Over 100 children’s workers were trained.

On the heels of the visit to Dasmariñas, the team ministered at the Samaritan’s Place orphanage, administered by Marc and Marilen Morris, and led a program for the monthly Kids Klub community outreach.
Under the auspices of the Church of God, Abegail Mesa, whose life was changed and transformed by the power of God, now leads a ministry called Rescue Kabatan (youth). She and her teams go into the schools to address various issues youth are facing: homosexuality, drugs, and so forth. This ministry received two new laptops, a video projector, two digital cameras, and other resources from the team.
