Prayer Emphasis Sunday Set for This Weekend

Church of God Prayer Ministries, along with its prayer organization partners, offers a guide for believers to observe the nationwide emphasis this Sunday.

“We are filled with anticipation of what the Lord will do as we join our hearts together this Sunday, December 6th, to ask the Lord to bring more awareness, increase and amplification to the place and importance of prayer once more,” said Dr. Doug Small, coordinator of Church of God Prayer Ministries and Project Pray. The organization ASLPN is partnering with its associated ministries to promote and increase awareness of the role, effectiveness and benefits of prayer by Christians and to strengthen and help start prayer groups/ movements in Churches and families and offer the following guidelines:

GOAL
From the pages of Scripture, and through the experiences of God’s people, we see that Prayer is more than just an opportunity to communicate with the Divine God. Prayer is a strong and powerful weapon that can be used to exalt and praise our God, and to confront evil through spiritual warfare (ensuring the defeat of negative/contrary forces of the present time.) More than ever before, God’s people need to engage in this practice to procure victory for the Church, our families and our nation.

METHODS:
1. Encourage families to pray together on December 6th, 2015, to strengthen, introduce or reintroduce the place of prayer in homes and lives .
2. Pastors and Ministries are encouraged to speak, preach or teach on prayer on December 6th, 2015 or to simply include prayer when they address their people.
3. Congregations are encouraged to recognize, appreciate and corporately pray for their intercessors, prayer warriors or prayer teams.
4. Encourage others to join your churches’ prayer teams/organizations.
5. Introduce the Intercessors, who could call out their Pastors/Leaders and pray over them, their families and ministries.

PRAYER EMPHASIS FOR THE DAY
• Pray for the expansion (spiritual and physical) of Churches and Ministries, crying out for souls to be brought in and saved. 1Tim 2:4.
• Pray for the Light of God and the true message of Christmas to be heard and received this year. 2 Cor 4:6.
• Pray for revival across the Nation and the world. Psalm 85:6-8.
• Pray for God’s intervention in the chaotic situation in the world brought on by sin, rebellion against God, terrorism and other vices. Psalm 3:1-7.
• Pray for God’s blessings, covering and provision for His people as the year draws to an end. Phil 1:6.
• Pray for vision, direction and blessings for the coming year. Prov 29:18.
• Plead for God’s mercy, to avert the judgement that awaits us as a result of our sins. Hab 3:2; Jam 2:13.

We want to rise up on a single day together and to make intentional efforts to practice, teach and uphold prayer in our churches, homes and individual lives and believe God for a chorus of prayer to be raised to the heaven as we end this year and start a new one soon.
