Church of God Announces Custom Church Apps

Earlier this year Church of God Communications released a new downloadable “app” for smartphones which offers several innovative features for churches, pastors, and laypersons.

David Ray, director of Communications for the Church of God, says the app allows for several functions not previously available on smartphones and tablet devices. For credentialed ministers and church treasurers who report monthly to the International Offices, the new app contains the functionality to complete this process via a smartphone. The Church of God website is linked with the new app, as well as a church locator, making finding a local Church of God congregation via smartphone a reality. The technology comes through a partnership with the Bible and Journal App Company.

Communications has now launched the next step in apps, which is a custom church app.

“Church leaders and church attenders are all trying to figure out how to use technology to stay better connected with their church,” Ray said. “It has become more challenging to keep the use of smartphones in church focused on connecting with God and not Facebook accounts. Our research and testimonies from Church of God pastors makes us confident that a church app with a digital Bible in it will help you in this effort.

“Apps are the preferred medium of communication with the majority of adults today,” Ray continued. “Church apps help people better engage on Sundays. They allow people to be able to track with the sermon notes in church and stay connected with the message throughout the week.”

The Church of God has a partnership with Custom Church Apps that makes it easy and affordable for local churches to develop their own specialized church app using the world’s most advanced church app platform. CCA will build the app for free and allow it to be on trial at no cost for 30 days.

“Your community wants to be able to connect with their church through a custom app,” Ray concluded. “This is a huge opportunity for the Church to connect with their community in a greater way.”
