Sometimes It Happens This Way

A sister institution of World Missions is Serving Orphans Worldwide (SOW), based in Bristol, Tennessee.

Recently, a baby died at one of their orphanages. Thoughts flowed with what might her life have been like if she had grown, what purpose would she would have fulfilled, and what would it have been like for the family who so lovingly would have adopted her? But, sadly, these questions will never be answered.

Babies are fragile and vulnerable anywhere in the world. Great care is taken in holding them, nurturing them, and seeing that their needs are met. Gentleness is a prerequisite.
SOW orphanage directors in Thailand, Connie and her husband, Richard, care for children with special needs … the kind of care that a state orphanage cannot provide. It is not an undertaking to be taken lightly. However, Connie sees through the maddening haze of risks involved, and she remains steadfastly focused on the prize: hope in all its forms: the sickly made well; lost souls coming to Jesus; and even little ones finding families through adoption.
