How Hollywood Tries to Sink Noah’s Ark
Noah is told by God to build an Ark in order to save his family from a global flood. Not a difficult story to decipher. Why is Hollywood unable to? Many of today’s films have supernatural/disaster themes (Jupiter Ascending, The Avengers: Age of Ultron – May 2015), why can’t Hollywood employ the same rationale to the Bible? Are movie studio executives and television networks unable to re-create Noah’s story (unlikely), do they have a desire to reinterpret Genesis or a personal hostility towards God and the Bible? • Noah was attacked by a lion and gardened with Satan – apparently Noah’s sinful nature (A&E/The Biography Channel).
• Exploding rock monsters helped Noah build the ark. Methuselah had magical powers. Noah wanted his grandchildren dead (Noah, theatrical film).
• Noah adopted a fourth son named Kenan (Islamic origins). Noah’s family thought he was mentally ill because he was building an Ark (Noah’s Ark, UP Network).
• Noah’s frustrations with no rain prompted God to send the flood. Many villagers including Noah, his family and the animals boarded the Ark (Noah’s Ark, UP Network).
• Moses stole the flood story from pagans. Noah sold beer and animals (The Discovery Channel).
• Noah’s Ark broke apart and sunk (The Discovery Channel).
• Noah’s hometown was Sodom. He was nearly burned alive on a volcanic mountain. Noah was an insane drunk (NBC’s Noah’s Ark).
• Noah’s Ark was almost burned and destroyed by Lot’s (?) terrorist Navy. Noah didn’t build the Ark – God did (NBC’s Noah’s Ark).
• Noah was a foul-mouthed jerk (Family Guy, FOX).
• Noah was born a circumcised albino – immediately after his birth he prayed (A&E/The Biography Channel).
• Noah was insensitive and cruel (Muppets from Space, theatrical film).
• “There is no boat there (on Ararat) and there never has been” (The Discovery Channel).
