For the Love of People

In the early 1960’s there was a popular song among young people called “Dedicated to the One I Love.” For some strange reason I was reminded of this song over the past few weeks, but it was in a very different context.

By Dr. Jake Popejoy

Over the past few weeks snow, ice, and blizzard conditions have gripped the East coast from New England to the deep South. Even with this extreme weather, men and women of God chose to brave the elements and participate in Community Service Chaplaincy Training.

The Church of God in Eastern North Carolina hosted a seminar in Kenly, N.C. and day after day for five days, during snow and ice storms, it was dedication for the love of people that drove the 34 chaplains to their place of training. No exceptions, they all graduated and were certified as Community Service Chaplains. Likewise, in New Haven, Conn., the New England Spanish churches met for three days for Level I training and again struggled through storms and severe weather to insure that they received necessary training. Not one chaplain would be turned aside. I was so blessed and proud of all of these people. From these two seminars I was again reminded that love brings dedication!
