Multi-Cultural Ministries Announces 2015 Black Ministries Awareness Events

In conjunction with Black History Month across the United States in February, the office of Multi-Cultural Ministries is coordinating two exciting events to help promote black ministries in the Church of God.

On February 5, 2015, the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee will host a Black Ministries Celebration. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Lennox D. Walker, administrative bishop for the Church of God in Eastern Canada (Ontario). The event will be held in the PTS Chapel and will be followed by a luncheon in the PTS Curtsinger Room.

At 1:00 p.m. Dr. Michael D. Reynolds will continue the celebration with a lecture. Reynolds is senior pastor of New Life Celebration Church of God and Associate Dean at Trinity International University’s South Chicago regional campus in Dolton, Illinois. Following Dr. Reynolds lecture, a panel discussion will conclude the day of events.

Special musical guests during the celebration event will be the award-winning Evangelistic Singers from Lee University.

The Celebration event is open to the public, including the luncheon, however those wishing to attend the luncheon must RSVP by January 28 via email to [email protected].

February 8, 2015 has been declared Black Ministries Awareness Sunday. Church of God congregations across the nation are being asked to take time out of Sunday services to recognize the historical legacy of black ministry within the Church of God.

“Black Ministries Awareness Sunday and the celebration event will demonstrate our unity through diversity, stated Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams. “We have a history to preserve, a legacy to share, and a new generation to inspire for the cause of Jesus Christ.”

Resources are available for download on the Church of God website (www.churchofgod.org), including two videos. A two-minute message from General Overseer Mark Williams is appropriate for presentation on Black Awareness Sunday. A second video features an interview of Williams with Dr. Ken Hill, director of Multi-Cultural Ministries for the Church of God.
