Church of God Benefits Board Offers Incentive to New Participants

In the recent meeting of the Board of Directors of the Church of God Benefits Board, the entity charged with managing the Ministers’ Retirement Plan, much discussion centered on encouraging new members, especially younger ministers, to join the retirement plan.

Following the meeting, Board Chairman Mark Walker and President/CEO Art Rhodes announced that the Board would be offering an incentive for new participants to join the plan. The new program provides for dollar for dollar matching contributions of up to $500 to any new participant who joins the plan in 2015. Matching funds will be contributed by the Board in December 2015.

“Being able to incentivize new participants to join the plan is an incredible opportunity to continue to grow the Ministers’ Retirement Plan, a plan that now manages some $335 million in assets,” noted Rhodes.

All ministers and church-related employees who receive compensation from a church, church-related school, state office, or agency or department of the Church of God International Offices are eligible to participate in the Ministers’ Retirement Plan. To join the plan, simply visit the Board’s website at www.benefitsboard.com and click on the box labeled “Join the Plan.” No additional action is required to be eligible for the matching contributions in 2015.
