Plans Continue for Encounter 2015

This January several ministry organizations, including the Church of God, are coming together for a prayer meeting of epic proportions at Northwood Temple, Fayetteville, N.C.

“We are thrilled with the growing level of participation in the upcoming Encounter 2015 conference, January 5-6,!” said coordinator P. Douglas Small. “This is indicative of the passion leaders are sensing for a renewed commitment to prayer across the church body and a desperate need to cry out to God for a spiritual awakening in this day.”

Small stated that among the most recent to join with eight other key leaders are Steve Holder, President of Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International. In addition, B. G. Turner, newly-elected leader of the Pentecostal Churches of Christ has joined the effort, along with Jeff Farmer, Chairman of the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA).

PCCNA now represents over 480,000 churches and nearly 90 million followers of Christ worldwide. Members share a common history of Holy Spirit renewal and an overriding goal of evangelizing the world. The Full Gospel Fellowship fosters linkage among pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and others to partner together to reap the whitened harvest fields. The Pentecostal Churches of Christ have networks of congregations around the world.

“We thank God for their involvement in the Encounter 2015 prayer conference,” Small stated.

Among the speakers for the two-day event is Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams and Alton Garrison, assistant general superintendent of the Assemblies of God.

Urging broad participation, Garrison states, “Scripture issues a clear mandate to pray; Scripture also highlights the importance of united prayer. ‘Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them,’ Jesus said in Matthew 18:20 (NIV). And we all know what transpired on the Day of Pentecost as Jesus’ followers gathered to pray in one accord (Acts 2). Imagine what might take place as pastors, prayer leaders, and others from across the Pentecostal church spectrum gather together for united, concerted prayer and intercession for the church and for our nation at Encounter 2015. Please make plans now to join us for this unprecedented, historic prayer gathering. May our time together ignite a powerful move of the Holy Spirit across our churches and across our land!”
