USA Missions Provides Downloadable Resources
Church of God USA Mission has released two updated free and downloadable resources from the USA Missions website.
According to Dr. James E. Cossey, executive administrator of USA Missions, the Senior Adult Ministries manual is a seventy-five page resource for developing and maintaining senior adult ministries in the local church. The manual is filled with current statistical information that emphasizes the challenges of reaching seniors, as well as information on how to organize the local seniors group, suggestions for activities, and scriptural support for the ministry.
“According to recent data, by the year 2035 there will be two senior adults (65 and older) for every one teenager (13-19),” Cossey stated. “By the year 2050, according to the U. S. Census Bureau, one-in-five Americans will be 65 or older, and at least 400,000 will be 100 or older. The need for effective senior adult ministries will continue to increase as we witness the “graying of America,” and the continuation of a declining birth rate.”
The Jail and Prison Ministries manual is a newly revised (not rewritten) version of the manual written over thirty years ago by Mr. Bob Pace. Current statistical data and updated references make this 27-page manual a useful tool for local pastors and prison workers. Cossey states, “We have not revised this manual because it needed improvement. It needed none. We have revised it to update statistical information and to replace some outdated terminology. The manual offers general guidelines for beginning a jail and prison ministry, covers important topics to be considered when implementing such a ministry, and enumerates important “dos” and “don’ts” of working with offenders and with the systems that incarcerate them.
Plans are currently underway to broaden the scope of available free downloadable resources for evangelism and home mission ministries. Plans call for downloadable witnessing tracts, Bible reading guides, and other resources in the near future.
Both the Senior Adult Ministries manual and the Jail and Prison Ministries manual are available for free download in either English or Spanish by logging on to the USA Missions website at www.usamissions.com.
