From its inception in 1909, the office of the general overseer has been the most significant office in the denomination. Twenty-one general overseers have served the church during its history from 1886 to 2012. Called to Serve, by Douglas LeRoy, tells the leaders’ individual stories, sharing their family and ministerial backgrounds. Emphasis is given to their contribution while serving in the office of general overseer. A feature of each chapter is a selected message, presented to show their style of communication. Several additional items, including a biographical dateline, books they authored, trivia questions, birthplace, and photos provides insights into their lives.

“The general overseer serves as the leader and pastor of the Church of God,” LeRoy stated. “His style, character, and vision greatly influence the direction of the denomination, and serve as a model for young ministers.” The 562-page volume captures the man, his ministry and his message and, “shows the impact of these twenty-one men who were called and chosen by God to lead the Church of God,” LeRoy concluded.

Called to Serve will be available for order at www.pathwaybookstore.com on Monday, July 21.
