Chaplains in Unity

David paints a beautiful picture of how God views unity. “It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down the collar of his robes” (Psalm 133:2). Aaron was only allowed to minister unto the Lord after he was anointed with oil. There is great significance in the comparison of unity and oil; both are very precious in the eyes of God. The body of Christ is most fruitful when dwelling together in one mind and one accord. Living in unity with our brothers and sisters is like being saturated with the oil of the Lord; the very oil of the anointing that prepares us to be ministers of the gospel.

There is also commanded blessing for those who live together in unity; this lifestyle positions us to be blessed. In times of tragedy and disaster Church of God chaplains have come together with one intention, to be a light in the darkness. We all have the same answer to share to every wounded, lost and needy soul, “Jesus died so you can live and He can heal you!” For this reason (and many others), chaplains are blessed. Not only are we unified as a body, we are unified with Christ. I believe when the Lord looks upon you, He is pleased. My prayer is that we live in unity in every aspect of our lives. Not just to be called blessed, but to be pleasing to our Father. I am confident that each of you makes this your goal every day.

Have a blessed weekend with friends and family as we celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior with Christians united around the world. Thank you Jesus! What a glorious freedom we have to worship our Savior each and every day!

“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
