Wallace to Headline Women’s Event at GA2014

The 75th Church of God International General Assembly is scheduled for July 29-August 1, 2014 and will take place in Orlando, Fla. A highlight of week’s events will be a women’s service scheduled for Tuesday evening, July 29.

Church of God Women’s Discipleship is coordinating the service. This is the first time it has been scheduled as a stand-alone evening event. It will be held at the same time as the Tuesday evening General Council business session.

At 7:00 p.m., women from all over the world will gather at the Hyatt Regency’s Plaza International Ballroom for fellowship and worship. The service will feature Scripture reading in multiple languages and a Caribbean choir directed by Patricia Charles. Keynote speaker for the service will be Deven Wallace, co-pastor, with her husband, Kevin, of Redemption Point Church in Ooltewah, Tennessee. Earlier this year, Redemption Point purchased a portion of the former Tennessee Temple University campus in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. Redemption Point now conducts worship on two campuses. The Chattanooga worship venue was formerly occupied by Highland Park Baptist Church.

“Many women have requested a special event to be held at the General Assembly, so Women’s Discipleship is expecting a capacity crowd,” stated Lorna Gosnell, coordinator of women’s discipleship. Gosnell stated that in order to attend, all women are asked to register for the service when they fill out their General Assembly registration. Only those who have signed up in advance and received a door pass will be permitted to attend, as only the first 2,250 registrants can be accommodated.

The theme of the service is “One Family Through Christ’s Blood,” based on Ephesians 2:11-22. In addition to the Caribbean choir, worship will be led by Jihan Cox. The service will be translated into Spanish.

Registration for GA2104 is available at www.churchofgod.org. For questions about registering for the service on the General Assembly registration form, please contact 423.478.7875. DVDs will be available on the women’s discipleship website after GA2014.

“One of the main things we are emphasizing with people is the importance of signing up for the service when they register for the general assembly,” Gosnell continued. “The service is free, but seating is limited. We already have quite a few attendees, so it’s important to register as soon as possible.”

“We are so excited to host this event for women at the International General Assembly,” Gosnell concluded. “It promises to be a powerful time together. I hope all ladies will register and be with us as we celebrate our unity in Christ!”
